Health Occupations Technology is a two-year course. The information learned is through classwork, lab, and clinical experiences in area hospitals and nursing homes, physician, veterinarian, and dental offices. Our Health Occupations Technology Program can help train you for entry into a number of areas in the health field or for higher education.
In the first year of the program, the students spend time learning the language of the medical field – Medical Terminology. They also learn how the body is put together and how it functions, which is known as Anatomy and Physiology. They also learn the basics of disease, which is known as Pathophysiology.
Students then spend time in the laboratory learning hands-on patient care skills that are basic to any health care setting.
In the second year, students get the opportunity to explore a variety of health care settings by observing them first hand at a local hospital. They follow this up with an internship of their choosing in their area of focus.
Students get preparation to enter the workforce, tech school or college.
Students also are provided the opportunity to receive several certifications while in the program including: Certified Nurses Ad, CPR, First Aid, AED, and OSHA.

A student in this program is also expected to maintain confidentiality of all experiences gained within local facilities and to learn and at all times practice proper safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment.
