Thirty-one health care agencies participated in the Practical Nursing Annual Career Fair at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC). Students in the Practical Nursing program met with representatives to gather information regarding employment opportunities in the health care industry.  Representatives are looking for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Registered Nurses (RN). The representatives stated the average hiring wage for a CNA is between $12/hr.-$16/hr.; LPN, $16/hr.-$24/hr.; and RN, $28/hr.-$35/hr.  According the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of certified nursing assistants, licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses is projected to grow 11-12% from 2016-2026, faster than the average for all occupations.  The 1,500 Practical Nursing program delivers instruction over twelve months (full-time) or twenty-four months (part-time).  Students acquire knowledge through classroom instruction and hands-on learning in a state-of-the-art laboratory.  Partnerships with local health care facilities expand the learning environment and allow students to apply their knowledge and skills through clinical experiences.  The next Practical Nursing class starts in August 2019 (full-time) or March 2021 (part-time).
