Travis Silver, a Clearfield County Career and Technology Center Diesel Repair student from Curwensville Area High School student, is adjusting valves on a diesel engine in the Diesel Equipment Maintenance and Repair program. It is important to ensure valves are adjusted correctly as too much clearance means the valves will likely clatter and over the long-term, cause damage to the valves, camshaft lobes, or rocker arms. If there is too little valve clearance, the valves won’t fully close, causing excessive heat, and the engine will lose power.
