The Clearfield County Career & Technology Center’s (CCCTC) SkillsUSA students recently held a penny war in each program (AM and PM). The winner of the penny war would then have the opportunity to shave Mr. Jerome Mick’s (CCCTC Information Technology Instructor and SKillsUSA Advisor) beard that he has been growing for a couple of years. Mr. Mick and his SkillsUSA students came up with the idea to raise money for an opioid presentation for the CCCTC students which also ties in with the SkillsUSA community service project. Students attending the state competition for SkillsUSA are required to complete a project that benefits their community. The students raised over $400 to bring in an officer from the Clearfield-Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission. The students in the AM Health Occupations Technology program won the penny war and shaved Mr. Mick’s beard. To learn more about the opportunities at CCCTC, visit us at www.ccctc.edu.
