CCCTC Students Get Visit From PA Game Commission With Trapped Bear

Student at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC) got a visit from the PA Game Commission Conservation Officers, Mark Gritzer and Jerry Schickling, with a trapped bear. Students in the Welding and Collision Repair program modified the bear trap in March. The students in welding welded a guillotine latch door to the trap with the winch system and the students in collision did the final prep on the project by masking, priming and painting the trap. Wildlife Conservation Officer, Mark Gritzer, said he would bring a bear to the school once he trapped one. Students had the opportunity to see the process the officers go through when trapping the bear. Students watched as they tagged, tattooed, and measured the bear.  This particular male bear weighed 149lbs and was about 2-3 years old.
