Electronics is a two-year course. In the program fundamentals of electronic technology are studied including electronic concepts, principles and theories, problem solving, circuit design and analysis, troubleshooting, and testing equipment.

On the practical side of electronics, the following are taught: printed circuit board layout and manufacturing, chassis layout and construction; systems wiring and soldering; equipment breakdown and reassembly; projects (construction, testing and troubleshooting), and personal computer repair. In the second year of the program, students can obtain three industry recognized communication certifications: certified network specialist, certified fiber optics specialist, and certified integrated key phone and message specialist.

Salary Information:

Salaries range from $12/hour entry level to $42/hour with experience and certifications. Job opportunity and placement are good due to the development of more electronic systems and expanding technology.

College Credits:

Graduates of the Electronics program at Clearfield County Career & Technology Center can receive advanced standing when pursuing an Associate Degree in Electronics Technology. As a result of an articulation agreement between Clearfield County Career & Technology Center and Penn College of Technology, CCCTC graduates can be awarded up to 12 college credits for work completed at CCCTC. The awarding of the credits results in a substantial tuition credit at Penn College of Technology. Beginning in 2008-2009, students will also have the opportunity to dual enroll with CCCTC and Penn College of Technology. More details will be released as they become available. Students can also participate in a dual enrollment program with Pennsylvania Highlands Community College which allows them to obtain up to 22 credits towards an Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering.
