THE POSITIONT

he Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution(SCI) at Houtzdale
is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as Corrections Food Service Instructor.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position functions as lead worker by assigning, participating in, and reviewing routine and specialized tasks performed by inmates in the areas of preparation, production, service, and baking.  You will ensure proper control over inmates by enforcing custody and security regulations and inspect all food service areas, equipment, and food for conformance with established safety and sanitation standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

Full-time employment.
Work hours are 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Rotating days off, 40 hours per week.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement.
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $43,022 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience in food preparation, production, and service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation and a criminal history report.
