Students from the Information Technology program at CCCTC recently participated in the 2nd annual West Branch Area School District STEAM Night, where they showcased cybersecurity demonstrations and raised awareness about digital threats.
The students focused on key cybersecurity topics, including keyloggers and ransomware, educating attendees on how cybercriminals exploit these tools to gain unauthorized access to computers and devices. They provided hands-on demonstrations, illustrating how hackers operate and the methods they use to compromise security.
Jerome Mick, IT Instructor, expressed his pride in the students’ involvement, stating, “The IT class was honored to be invited again this year to participate in West Branch Area School District’s STEAM Night. STEAM plays a crucial role in our daily lives, and our community is fortunate to have an event like this. Raising awareness about cyber safety is essential. We hear about cyberattacks in the news almost daily, whether it’s ransomware, keyloggers, or other forms of malware. The best defense is awareness—knowing these threats exist and understanding how to respond to them.”
The Clearfield County Career and Technology Center is proud to highlight the talents and accomplishments of its students. For more information about the CCCTC and its programs, please visit us at www.ccctc.edu.
