The Heavy Equipment Mechanic (HEM) is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and other equipment that requires preventive maintenance and/or repairs.  Equipment types include truck tractors and trailers, front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers, and fork lifts.  Other equipment includes transmissions, rear-ends, blowers, wet lines, gear boxes and other miscellaneous equipment.  HEM is responsible for completing work orders on any maintenance performed and identifying any parts taken from inventory.  HEM is also required to schedule maintenance to be performed.  HEM is required to perform basic to advanced mechanical skills. HEM is also responsible for other tasks/projects as directed by the Shop Foreman.  Specifically, the HEM may perform/require the following:

 

·         Perform routine maintenance tasks on heavy equipment and other equipment;

·         Diagnose and repair heavy equipment and other equipment;

·         Be familiar with mechanic tools and their proper use;

·         Complete work orders correctly;

·         Retrieve parts from inventory and assign them to the proper work order;

·         Compute and verifying labor hours performed on each piece of equipment;

·         Adjust inventory levels based on inventory used during routine maintenance and/or repairs.

·         Report maintenance and inventory issues or discrepancies to the Shop Foreman.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

·         High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required;

·         Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check;

·         Must be able to successfully pass a physical abilities test;

·         Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen;

·         Good communication skills as well as the ability to exercise good judgment;

·         Patience and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment with hazards and            frequent distractions;

·         Motivated, self-starter and team player;

·         Maintain a strong desire to be a safe and productive member of the Lansberry Trucking, Inc. team.

·         Must be safe and abide by all safety standards.

·         Must have significant knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures and practices.

·         Ideal candidate will own his/her own tools.

·         Must have transportation to get to and from work.

·         Must be willing to work Monday through Friday (40 hours) and over-time, as needed.
